As a family-owned ice cream shop right in the heart of Downtown Mason, we’ve been creating those moments for families since 2009. And we’ve learned a thing or two about what kids love. Character Cones: Where Ice Cream Meets Imagination
Our character cones are hands-down the most popular item with kids, and it’s easy to see why. We take a regular soft serve cone and transform it into a fun animal or character using candy pieces, creating a treat that’s almost too cute to eat (almost).
Here’s the lineup of characters you can choose from:

Character toppers are just $1.00 added to any soft serve cone. That’s a pretty small price for the giant smile it creates.
Blue Soft Serve: The Color of Pure Joy
Kids are drawn to our Blue soft serve like moths to a flame. There’s just something about that bright, vibrant blue color that screams “fun.” The flavor is Blue Raspberry — fruity, sweet, and refreshing — and it comes in all our regular sizes from Kiddie ($3.00) to Waffle Cone ($4.75).
Parent hack: If your little one is prone to messes, start with a Kiddie size in a cup instead of a cone. You’ll still get the excitement of the blue color without the drip factor. And don’t worry — Blue Raspberry is one of those flavors that stains everything, so maybe pack some wet wipes!
Swirlies: Build-Your-Own Adventure
For kids who love to customize, our Swirlies are the way to go. A Swirlie is soft serve blended with the topping of your choice, and kids love being able to pick their own mix-in.

Swirlies start at $4.50 for a Small. One topping is included, and additional toppings are $0.75 each. For younger kids, the Small is usually the right call — it’s plenty of ice cream without being overwhelming.
Kiddie Sizes: Perfect for Small Appetites
One thing we hear from parents all the time is how much they appreciate our Kiddie size option. Not every kid needs (or can handle) a full-size cone, and our Kiddie portion is just right for smaller appetites.

At those prices, you can treat the whole family without breaking the bank. And if your kiddo finishes their Kiddie and wants more? You can always upgrade to a Small.

Not every kid is an ice cream kid (shocking, we know). For those who prefer something icy, we’ve got two fantastic options:
Slushies come in a rainbow of flavors — Cherry, Grape, Blue Raspberry, Orange, Lime, Bubble Gum, Watermelon, Strawberry, and Lemonade. Starting at just $2.25 for a Small, they’re one of the most affordable treats on our menu and perfect for hot summer days at the nearby parks and splash pads around Mason.
Glaciers are for the kid who can’t decide between ice cream and a slushy (we’ve all been there). A Glacier is soft serve combined with a slushy — you can get it mixed together or with the ice cream floating on top. It’s a unique creation that kids absolutely flip for.
The Dirt Cup: A Gourmet Sundae Kids Actually Want
Among our gourmet sundaes, the Dirt Cup reigns supreme with the under-12 crowd. It’s chocolate soft serve topped with crushed Oreo “dirt” and gummy worms crawling out of the top. It looks disgusting in the best possible way, and kids think it’s the coolest thing ever.
Starting at $4.75 for a Small, the Dirt Cup is a treat and an experience all in one. Another kid-approved gourmet sundae? The Smurf Cup — Blue soft serve with Marshmallow topping and a candy face. It’s basically the Blue soft serve fan club’s official dessert.
Tips for Visiting Mason Whippy Dip with Kids
Here are a few parent-tested tips to make your visit as smooth (and fun) as possible:
- Check our hours before you go. During spring, we’re open Monday-Thursday 3-9pm, Friday 3-10pm, Saturday 12-10pm, and Sunday 12-9pm.
- Come early for shorter lines. Weekend afternoons can get busy (we’re popular, what can we say). Try visiting right when we open for the shortest wait.
- Ask for a sample. Not sure what flavor your kiddo will like? We’re happy to let them try a taste before committing.
- Bring napkins. Ice cream and kids are a messy combination. We have some at the shop, but extra never hurts.
- Don’t stress the mess. A drippy cone and a chocolate-smeared smile is the sign of a life well-lived.
